MoT plans nation-wide Tourism awareness programmes from October 5 to 25

Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, with the support of other Ministries and departments of the government and other private industry stakeholders, will conduct various Tourism awareness programmes across the country starting from today, October 5 till October 25, as part of the ‘Paryatan Parv’ programme. The guiding principle of the almost month-long programme will be ‘Tourism for All’.

 

Revealing the agenda of the Paryatan Parv programme here in Delhi, Alphons Kannanthanam, Minister of State (Independent charge) for Tourism has said that the programme is being organised with the objective of drawing focus on the benefits of tourism, showcasing the cultural diversity of the country and reinforcing the principle of ‘Tourism for All’.

 

He said that the programme will have three main components, which are ‘Dekho Apna Desh’, to encourage Indians to visit their own country; ‘Tourism for All’, tourism events at sites across all states in the country, and ‘Tourism Governance’, comprising interactive sessions and workshops with stakeholders and themes.

 

Workshops and discussions will be conducted on topics like Skill Development in Tourism Sector, Innovation in Tourism, Inducting ex-defence personnel as service providers, community sensitisation, etc.

 

A cycle rally was flagged off today from India Gate to Qutab Minar in Delhi marking the beginning of the Paryatan Parv. An elaborate inaugural programme is also scheduled today at Humayun Tomb.

 

The Paryatan Parv will culminate in a 3-day event in New Delhi from the October 23 to 25, 2017 which will showcase the cultural diversity of the country, with cultural performances, crafts bazaar, food court showcasing folk and classical dance & music, handicrafts & handlooms, and cuisine from all regions and States of the country.
