Speaking at the event, Dr Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson FICCI Travel, Tourism & Hospitality Committee, and CMD Lalit Suri Hospitality Group said, “Indian tourism industry has immense potential, is also the largest employment generator. Bihar needs to take the lead to make the state an emerging tourism state. The land of Bihar has greater values than the birthplace of Gautama Buddha in Lumbini. Prince Siddhartha was born at Lumbini, But he became Budha when he got enlightenment at Bodhgaya, so Bodhgaya has greater significance than Lumbini”, she added.

”Suman Billa, Director, Technical Cooperation & Silk Road at UNWTO, joined the meet from Geneva via video-conferencing said, “UNWTO is also propagating this idea of facilitating the travel trade within their respective countries. The governments world over are trying to provide liquidity for businesses to survive. Investments are coming back and this is very important in the matter of investment that we need to be proactive. The people who are investing are looking for very attractive valuation of projects.

The report predicts that by 2029 India’s Tourism sector is expected to grow 6.7 percent to reach Rs. 35 trillion (US $ 488 Billion), accounting for 9.2 percent of the total economy, with more than 30.5 million foreign visitors’ arrival. It will help India grow at faster pace with VCs finding it as a favourite spot. Time to create channels where buyers meet sellers, and an ecosystem/platform can be created for investment to sustain. We need to ensure safety and hygiene standards.”

Co Chairman, FICCI Domestic Tourism Committee & MD, EBIXCash, Naveen Kundu, proposed the vote of thanks. He also offered to start a luxury train to connect different circuits of Bihar.
