Private stakeholders join tourism promotion drive

The J&K Hoteliers’ Club (JKHC) will be holding a travel show in Mumbai while Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Owners’ Federation (KHAROF) will hold a road show in Pune. JKHC chairman Mushtaq Chaya said the club would hold the promotional event in Mumbai in the first week of February where members from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh chapters would take part.

The event will be held as part of the tourism department’s promotional campaign that began last week from the South Asian Travel and Tourism Exhibition — Asia’s largest travel show held in New Delhi. As parts of efforts to increase the footfall, the department will be holding a series of promotional events across the country and later will also hold road shows in Malaysia, Thailand and Bangladesh.

As per KHAROF president Abdul Wahid Malik, the federation will hold a road show in Pune on Monday. The tourism department and private players have scheduled at least nine road shows at Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Kolkata and Bengaluru among other places to tap the domestic market.
