Bach in Jerusalem Festival

Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra presents the 2nd Bach in Jerusalem Festival featuring Bach's Mass in B minor with leading soloists from Israel and Germany and conducted by Andrew Parrott, March 20-25 at the YMCA Jerusalem. The program will include orchestral and chamber concerts, free outdoor concerts, family concerts, masterclasses, an international symposium and an exhibition that will accompany the festival with the treasures of Bach House in Eisenach, Germany. There will also be a bell concert from the YMCA Tower Bell which the public can enjoy on Monday, Thursday and Saturday evenings at 19:45, March 20,23. 25.


The festival was initiated and produced by the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra and the music director is David Shemer. The festival will take place mostly at the Jerusalem YMCA and part of the concerts will take place at the Mishkenot Shaananim Music Center and at the Jerusalem Theatre.


The program will include: Ricercar Consort from Belgium; Shem-tov Levi and Claire Meghnagi; Barrocade Ensemble; The Israeli Vocal Ensemble; an exhibition from Bach house in Eisenach; an international Bach Symposium; concerts, recitals, Israeli premieres, a concert for the family, outdoor concerts and more.


Notable events from the festival include Bach B Minor Mass conducted by Andrew Parrott and performed by soloists from Israel and abroad; Bach Cantatas with soprano Einat Aronstein; Ricercar Ensemble from Belgium; The Musical Offering; a family concert "Boom Trach Bach" with clown Fyodor Makarov as well as an international symposium about Bach.
