Eilat Chamber Music Festival

The Eilat Chamber Music Festival, one of the leading international festivals in Israel hosted in Israel’s most southern sea resort destination, Eilat, will take place this year from February 1-4, 2017. Participants can enjoy the beautiful water of the Red Sea, spectacular views of the hills that surround the resort, water sports, biking and hiking as well as the musical concerts on offer.

The festival will be hosted at the Dan Hotel Eilat and the concerts will be divided between the Tarshish and the Big Blue Halls.

Here are some of the highlights:

Portraits

Soloists from all over the world, Eilat Festival's master-classes professors: Amir Katz, Marianna Vasileva, Grigory Kalinovsky, Hillel Zori and others, will join together to present a fascinating chamber programme.

Discoveries

Young pianist Alexander Malofeev aged 15, already won the young Tchaikovsky Competition and perform with leading orchestras all over Russia. To his first Israeli performance Malofeev brings a virtuoso, complex and varied programme that presents some exquisite pianistic discoveries.

To the Memory of a Great Artist

Soloists of the Eilat Festival Faculty will perform a programme of Russian works that were dedicated to great artists: Rachmaninoff and Arensky dedicated their works to Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich’s work was dedicated to the famous musicologist Ivan Sollertinsky.

Masterclasses

This year the masterclasses will be held from 29th January to 4th February, 2017.
The masterclasses will focus on string instruments, piano and trumpet. The classes are aimed at serious precollege, undergraduate and postgraduate students to further develop their musicianship and improve their technical skills.
During the course each student will receive three lessons, one hour each. An experienced pianist will be allocated to each class. Students must bring all relevant scores, including piano parts, for the classes and the concerts. The administration of the festival retains the right not to open a particular class if it fails to reach the minimum number of applicants.

In addition to its regular master-classes, the festival offers vocal master-classes: the Vienna Tel Aviv Vocal Connection – a workshop for opera singers, will return to Eilat after the success of the previous workshop.
In recent years the festival hosted renowned artists and productions, including Hollywood star John Malkovich with the musical drama “The Infernal Comedy” accompanied by the Wiener Akademie Orchestra; Gabrieli Consort and Players with conductor Paul McCreesh; the chamber orchestra of the Concertgebouw, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, soloists Julian Rachlin, Maxim Vengerov, Natalia Guttman, Pieter Wiespelwey, Franz Helmersohn, actor Sir Roger Moore, and many others.
