Alila Hotels and Resorts to aggressively focus on Indian market

Alila Hotels and Resorts has recorded a growth of 20 to 30% from the Indian market across all its international properties over the last three years. The company is now looking towards concentrating on marketing its properties in the Indian market more aggressively, especially after the launch of its new property, Alila Fort Bishangarh, this year in July. Doris Goh, CMO, Two Roads Hospitality (managing company of Alila Hotels), said, “All the hotels of Alila are boutique luxury properties which are designed to cater experiences to the visitors rather than a normal stay. Though for us Australia, China, Korea and Indonesia have been the best performing markets in Asia Pacific in terms of tourist arrivals, but looking at the aggressive growth of Indian outbound tourism in last few years, Alila wants to tap this fastest growing outbound market. Our target is to attract experiential travellers from the Indian market.”

Alila Seminyak, Bali, has been the best performing property for the company for India, while overall Indian arrivals recorded 3 to 4% increase in 2016 across all the properties. Ankur Rastogi, Group Director Sales and Marketing - India, Alila Hotels, said, “We started promotions in the Indian market for our international properties in 2016. It is still at an infant stage for Alila Hotels in the Indian market. We have two properties in India, Alila Diwa Goa and Alila Fort Bishangarh which was recently launched. For the Goa property we are seeing average room occupancy of around 70%”

The domestic market has been the best performing for Alila Goa, contributing 70 to 75% of the total business. In terms of foreign tourist arrivals, the UK and Russia have been the top contributors since the last two years recording 9 to 10% of total foreign arrivals. “We always look at offering value add-ons to our travellers like at our Alila Diwa Goa we have options of all-day breakfast, thereby attracting millennials in good numbers. We will be promoting our new property Alila Fort Bishangarh at various trade shows across India and abroad all year round and will also participate at few wedding shows as this property can be a great destination for hosting weddings,” Rastogi said.
