Curtains go up on the 31st Surajkund International Crafts Mela

Addresing a galaxy of mediapersons at the Chaupal, Surajkund Mela Ground, Faridabad, Shri Vinod Zutshi, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Goverment of India & Chairman, Surajkund Mela Authority stated that the 31st Surajkund International Crafta Mela-2017 will be inaugurated by Shri Manohar Lal, Hon'ble Chirf Minister, Haryana in 1st Feb, 2017 at 11:30 pm in the august presence of Shri Ram Bilas Sharma, Tourism, Hospitality, Education, & Languages, Technical Education, Acheology & Museums Minister, Haryana; Shri Amar Kumar Bauri, Hon'ble Tourism, Culture, Art, Sports , Youth Affairs, Revenue & Land Reforms Minister, Govt. of Jharkhand; His Excellency Hatem Tageldin, Ambassador of Egypt to India, Delhi.

 

 

 

 

Shri Krishan Pal, Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India; Shri Vipul Goel, Industries Minister, Haryana; smt. Seema Trikha, Chief Parliamentry Secretary, Tourism & Hospitality, Haryana; Shri Jagdish Chopra, Chairman, Haryana Tourism Corp.,Shri Mool Chand Sharma, MLQA, Ballabhgarh and other distinguished dignitaries will also grace the occasion.

 

 

 

 

The Surajkund Crafts Mela was hosted for the first time in 1987 to showcase richess and diversity of the handicrafts, handlooms and cultural heritage of India. Jointly hosted by the Surajkund Mela Authority and Haryana Tourism in collabortion with the Union Ministiries of Tourism, Textiles, Culture, External Affairs and Govt. of Haryaa, this festival has come to occcupy a place of pride and prominence on the international tourism calendar for its display of crafts ,culture and cuisine of India in aesthetically created ambience.

 

 

Shri V.S. Kundu, Addl. Chief Secretary, Tourism, Goverment of Haryanaand Vice Chairman, Surajkund Mela Authority stated that besides attracting over a million visitors each year, Mela has also helped in reviving the heritage of crafts of India. This year, many new initiatives have been introduced like 'BookMyShow' offering online tickets for Mela, making Mela tickets available at Delhi Metro stations, special buses to Surajkund from different places, free ferry service fro the surroundings ares to the fair site and more public convenience.
