Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the 16th Annual Convention of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) in Tawang, highlighting the state’s potential for adventure tourism and its focus on sustainable economic development.
The event, running from December 3-8, gathers adventure tourism professionals to promote Arunachal as a key destination. ATOAI North East Chair Oken Tayeng stressed the importance of responsible tourism, ensuring local communities benefit economically while preserving the region’s natural and cultural heritage.
Attendees include Pasang Dorjee Sona, Arunachal’s Tourism Minister, and Lt. Gen. Rakesh Kapoor. The convention features panel discussions, industry awards, and familiarisation trips to sites like Bumla Pass and NIMAS in Dirang.
Ahead of the event, an adventure guide training program was held in Itanagar to build local skills. ATOAI also unveiled a roadmap to enhance investment and growth in the state’s tourism sector.
