5th Himalayan Travel Mart 2025 Kicks Off in Kathmandu, Reaffirming Nepal’s Tourism Vision

The fifth edition of the Himalayan Travel Mart (HTM) opened today in Kathmandu with a resounding call to reimagine the Himalayan region as a sustainable, inclusive, and globally connected tourism hub. The three-day event brings together over 700 delegates, including more than 100 international participants from over 30 countries.

Organized by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in association with the PATA Nepal Chapter and key tourism stakeholders, HTM 2025 is being hailed as a landmark event to rejuvenate the region’s travel and hospitality sector after years of global disruption.

In his inaugural address, Hon’ble Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badrinath Prasad Pandey, said the Mart reflects Nepal’s strong commitment to sustainable tourism. “Nepal is not only rich in natural beauty and culture, but also in resilience. The Himalayan Travel Mart is a symbol of our renewed readiness to welcome the world with responsibility and pride,” he stated.

Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, emphasized the evolving dynamics of Nepal’s tourism sector. “Our focus is shifting towards balanced development—honoring our roots in nature-based tourism while embracing innovation. HTM is an opportunity to reposition Nepal on the global map as a destination that’s authentic, diverse, and transformative,” he said.

Narendra Dev Bhatta, General Secretary of the PATA Nepal Chapter and HTM Coordinator, remarked that the event is a key catalyst for enhancing Nepal’s international tourism partnerships and domestic connectivity. “This is not just a trade mart; it’s a platform to deepen collaborations, spark new ideas, and showcase the unique Himalayan spirit,” he said.

HTM 2025 features a dynamic mix of high-level forums, B2B sessions, and knowledge-sharing platforms. Over 60 international buyers from countries including the US, Germany, Australia, South Africa, and Russia are participating in business meetings with sellers from Nepal and neighboring countries such as India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, China, and Sri Lanka.

The conference segment, held under the theme “Mountain: Milestone and Momentum,” includes over 20 expert speakers discussing trends in adventure, spiritual, and luxury tourism, as well as sustainable practices and technological innovation in travel.

This edition of HTM also coincides with the 75th anniversary of the first ascent of Mt. Annapurna and the 50th anniversary of the PATA Nepal Chapter—milestones that underscore Nepal’s long-standing role in mountain tourism.

With the Mart now in full swing, Nepal is sending a clear message to the world: the Himalayas are not just a destination—they are a journey into nature, culture, and human connection.
