TAFI 2025 Convention Begins in Ninh Binh: Championing Sustainability in Tourism

The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) has officially kicked off its 2025 Convention, themed “Tourism for Tomorrow: Protecting the Planet,” in the stunning province of Ninh Binh, Northern Vietnam. The event, running from January 17 to 20, 2025, brings together industry leaders in a breathtaking setting known for its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Located just a two-to-three-hour drive from Hanoi, Ninh Binh provides a serene and inspiring backdrop for the convention.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ajay Prakash, President of TAFI, emphasized the importance of sustainability in the tourism sector. “Indian tourism is booming. While inbound numbers are still below pre-Covid levels, outbound and domestic tourism are breaking all records. But an industry that is totally people-centric and thrives on the natural beauty and diversity of the world also has a duty to protect the planet. Sustainability is no longer a catchword; it is the single most important need for the tourism industry today. If we are to rethink our business models and think beyond profit, the move has to come from within the industry. As the country’s leading travel association, TAFI is taking the lead in sensitizing our members to guide their clients towards Responsible Tourism practices.”

Highlighting the choice of Vietnam and specifically Ninh Binh, he added, “Vietnam is a beautiful country that has become a very popular destination for Indian travelers. However, the stunning Ninh Binh province remains relatively unexplored by Indian tourists. TAFI seeks to introduce our members to newer, lesser-known destinations, reinforcing our belief that tourism must move beyond the usual popular spots.”

Anil Kalsi, Vice President of TAFI, expressed gratitude for their partnership, stating, “The Provincial Government of Ninh Binh has been extremely supportive, and our members can look forward to a memorable convention.”

The format of the convention offers a mix of insightful sessions, networking opportunities, and cultural immersion. Abbas Moiz, National General Secretary, highlighted some unique aspects, including pre- and post-convention tours to explore destinations like Da Nang, Bana Hills, Halong Bay, and the beach at Ho Tram. “This convention is not just about discussions; it’s an opportunity to experience Vietnam’s diverse offerings.”

Seeraj Sabharwal, Chairman of the Convention Committee, added, “We promise a convention full of compelling content, delicious food, and exciting entertainment. It is an event where business meets leisure in the most enriching way.”

The TAFI Convention 2025 has officially begun, setting the stage for impactful discussions on sustainability and the future of tourism, amidst the enchanting beauty of Ninh Binh.
