KTO Launches Designated Travel Agency Program to Boost Indian Tourism to South Korea

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has introduced the Designated Travel Agency Program under the K-Incentive Scheme 3.0, aimed at recognizing and supporting travel agencies actively promoting South Korea. This initiative complements KTO’s MICE Support and Korea Premium Travel Consultant (KPTC) Program, strengthening engagement with the Indian travel trade.

In collaboration with OTOAI, KTO successfully hosted the Korea Tourism Roadshow in Mumbai, reinforcing its commitment to increasing Indian tourist arrivals. Myong Kil Yun, Regional Director – India & SAARC, highlighted South Korea’s growing popularity among Indian travelers and KTO’s efforts in providing tailored support, training programs, and incentives. OTOAI President Himanshu Patil emphasized the impact of K-pop, Korean cuisine, and beauty products in driving Indian interest, with the roadshow equipping travel agents to curate specialized Korea packages.

Under the new program, designated travel agencies must create Korea-specific itineraries featuring destinations beyond Seoul, such as Busan, Gangwon-do, Jeollanam-do, or Jeollabuk-do. Selected agencies will receive direct visa support, promotional assistance, and performance-based rewards, with top performers recognized annually.

With 176,668 Indian visitors to South Korea in 2024, a 44% increase from the previous year, KTO aims to attract 250,000 Indian travelers in 2025, contributing to its global target of 18.5 million visitors. KTO remains committed to streamlining travel processes and enhancing marketing efforts to position South Korea as a top destination for Indian tourists.
