
A recent Agoda survey highlights the top five travel habits of India’s Gen Z (18-27 years), showcasing a digitally inspired, spontaneous, and experience-driven generation shaping future travel trends.
Beach vs. Mountains: While 26% of Gen Z travelers prefer beach getaways, 25% favor mountains, showing a close competition. Millennials, however, lean more toward beaches (29%) over mountains (18%).
Social Media as a Travel Guide: Instagram (28%) leads as Gen Z’s top source for travel inspiration, followed by Google searches (20%), travel blogs/vlogs (13%), and travel apps (8%). Despite digital dominance, 15% still rely on recommendations from friends and family.
Spontaneous Travel: Over 30% of Gen Z books flights less than a week in advance, and 44% make last-minute hotel reservations, embracing flexible and adventurous travel.
Traveling in Pairs: 41% of Gen Z prefers traveling with a partner, while 23% enjoy group trips with friends and 11% opt for family vacations, marking a shift from Millennials, who prioritize family travel.
Budget-Friendly Approach: 64% of Gen Z travelers prefer accommodation under INR 4,200 per night, while 24% are willing to spend INR 4,200-8,400. Millennials share similar spending habits, emphasizing value-driven travel over luxury.
