VIA Rail Canada has welcomed the Government of Canada’s announcement of Jonathan Goldbloom as the new Chairperson of the Board, effective April 12, 2025. Goldbloom, who has been a key member of VIA Rail’s Board since 2017, will succeed Françoise Bertrand, whose exemplary leadership has guided the organization since 2017. Goldbloom has played a pivotal role in shaping VIA Rail’s strategic vision, particularly in advancing the High-Frequency Rail (HFR) Project, now known as Alto. His efforts have strengthened stakeholder relationships, enhanced collaboration with government partners, and ensured robust oversight in the pursuit of dedicated passenger rail tracks. This appointment positions VIA Rail for continued growth and success in the years to come.
