South African Tourism Kicks Off 21st Annual India Roadshow to Strengthen Trade Ties and Boost Visitor Growth

The 21st edition of South African Tourism’s Annual India Roadshow has begun in New Delhi, capitalizing on the country’s expanding passion for tourism. The goal of the roadshow, which is led by Mr. Gcobani Mancotywa, Regional General Manager for Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, is to increase the number of tourists visiting South Africa, improve trade relations, and learn more about the preferences of Indian tourists.
The event attracted more than 500 Indian travel trade agents to the capital, where 40 exhibitors showcased some of the best travel experiences available in South Africa. However, the roadshow is going on the road, stopping in Chennai and Mumbai on March 19 and 20, 2025, to forge even closer commercial ties and raise awareness of South Africa’s remarkable variety.
Mr. Mancotywa clarified that India is a significant market for South African tourism, saying, “India has always been a strong market for us, especially for family trips, adventure travel, and luxury tourism.” Additionally, more and more tourists over 40 are visiting South Africa, and we have a great chance to capitalize on this younger demographic.

It is supported by data: of the 75,541 Indian visitors who traveled to South Africa in 2024, 22.6% came from New Delhi alone. South Africa offers something for everyone, whether you’re wanting to splurge or seek thrills. Luxury shopping (77%) and adventure tourism (21%), in particular, are what bring tourists to Delhi.
In order to facilitate travel to South Africa, the country is implementing the Trusted Tour Operator Scheme (TTOS) and a new Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system, which would streamline visa procedures for Indian visitors. Direct flights between India and South Africa are also being discussed; this might significantly increase the number of tourists.
With South Africa hosting the G20 in 2025, tourism is expected to be a major factor in forming international alliances. In the future, South African tourism is fully committed to strengthening its ties to India through improved trade partnerships, astute marketing strategies, and awareness-raising campaigns. The objective? to maintain the Rainbow Nation’s position as the #1 destination for Indian tourists.
