Grand Hyatt Singapore Reopens as a Sustainable Luxury and Wellness Haven on Orchard Road

The Grand Hyatt Singapore has reopened following a multi-year renovation, emphasising wellness, sustainability, and mindful living. The hotel, which has been at the forefront of green activities since 2002, is reintroducing itself as a Grand Living Room and Wellness Haven in the centre of Orchard Road, fusing luxury with ecological consciousness.
Through a collaboration with Flo Energy, the renovated facility boasts waste management solutions, smart utilities, and energy-efficient technologies that are all powered by 100% renewable electricity. Every year, the hotel replaces more than 10,000 single-use plastic goods with eco-friendly substitutes like aluminium pens and hardwood keycards. The hotel in Singapore has obtained the coveted Green Mark Platinum certification thanks to its water-efficient fixtures and well-designed temperature control systems.

With more than 80% of the veggies obtained locally, 55% of the seafood certified sustainable, and a continuous dedication to plant-based, zero-waste cooking, dining at the Grand Hyatt Singapore exemplifies Hyatt’s sustainability philosophy. It is the first hotel in the nation to track each dish’s carbon footprint using Wisefins technology.
Particularly noteworthy is the WasteMaster 1000, a cutting-edge food waste system that turns leftover food into nutrient-rich pellets that Metro Farm uses in an aquaponics system to grow herbs and feed fish. This closed-loop concept encourages sustainable local food production, which helps Singapore achieve its 30-by-30 food resiliency objective.

Productivity is still increased behind the scenes by advances like digital food safety systems, rainwater harvesting, regenerative lifts, RFID laundry tracking and LED lighting. Plastic water bottles will no longer be used in rooms or at events thanks to a new on-site bottling facility that is scheduled to open in 2025.
Grand Hyatt Singapore’s makeover offers visitors a rejuvenating stay that is tastefully and sustainably constructed, setting a new standard in sustainable luxury hospitality.
