Vietjet Accelerates Global Expansion with Major Orders for 100 Airbus Aircraft and 40 Rolls-Royce Engines

In a bold move to expand its international footprint and elevate Vietnam’s position in global aviation, Vietjet has announced a landmark order of 100 Airbus A321neo aircraft at the 2025 Paris Airshow, with an option for 50 more. Simultaneously, the airline has confirmed an order for 40 additional Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines to power its growing widebody A330 fleet.

These agreements underscore Vietjet’s ambitious growth strategy and its transformation into a multi-national aviation powerhouse. The latest Airbus deal follows Vietjet’s recent commitment to 20 A330neo aircraft, bringing its total widebody order book to 40—a major leap in its capacity and reach across international markets.

Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao called the agreement a turning point in the airline’s global journey.

“This agreement with Airbus is more than a commercial contract—it is a significant milestone that marks the beginning of Vietjet’s new journey: a journey of global expansion, new growth drivers, enhanced connectivity, and the development of a sustainable aviation ecosystem powered by ambition and transformation,” she said.
“Our vision is to make Vietnam a regional aviation hub, spanning passenger transport, logistics, technical services, training, and beyond.”

Airbus’ Executive Vice President of Commercial Aircraft Sales, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, praised the partnership and its strategic impact:

“Together, the A321neo and A330neo will be perfect partners for Vietjet to continue to spread its wings, efficiently matching capacity more closely to demand. The airline will also benefit from Airbus’ unmatched technical commonality across its fleet.”

The A321neo, Airbus’ largest single-aisle aircraft, delivers over 20% fuel savings and CO₂ emissions reductions, along with a 50% noise footprint cut. Its extended range and capacity make it ideal for Vietjet’s regional and long-haul ambitions.

In addition, Vietjet’s expanded agreement with Rolls-Royce—doubling its total Trent 7000 engine order to 80—demonstrates its focus on building a next-gen widebody fleet that is reliable, efficient, and environmentally forward. The Trent 7000 engine, specifically designed for the A330neo, provides increased fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, further aligning with Vietjet’s sustainability goals.

These strategic deals not only accelerate Vietjet’s growth but also deepen aviation and economic ties between Vietnam, France, and Europe—cementing Vietjet’s role as a key player in the future of global air travel.
