The vibrant spirit of India will take center stage in Moscow as Bharat Utsav – Festival of India is set to be held from July 5 to 13, 2025, at the iconic Manezhnaya Square, one of the central venues under the city’s “Summer in Moscow” initiative. This grand cultural celebration is being organized in collaboration between the Moscow Government and the Embassy of India in Russia.
Bharat Utsav aims to offer Muscovites and tourists a rich and immersive experience of Indian heritage, traditions, and contemporary culture. The square will be transformed into a colorful hub, featuring chalets serving Indian cuisine, traditional souvenirs, and exotic greenery, bringing a slice of India to the heart of Russia.
The cultural program promises a vibrant lineup of daily performances, dance masterclasses, Hindi language lessons, and other interactive sessions. Russian and Indian ensembles will perform each morning and evening, showcasing the fusion of both cultures. Visitors can also participate in creative workshops led by international artists, including sessions on tabla drumming, classical dance forms like Kathak and Kuchipudi, and basic conversational Hindi.
Adding to the festive spirit, an art exhibition representing diverse regions of India will also be on display at the venue, offering a visual journey through the country’s rich artistic traditions.
This festival is a shining example of the growing cultural and tourism exchange between Moscow and India. The Russian capital has seen a significant rise in Indian visitors, with over 18,000 Indian tourists arriving in the first quarter of 2025 alone—a 50% increase compared to the same period last year. India now ranks second among non-CIS countries in terms of tourist arrivals to Moscow.
Bharat Utsav is more than just a festival—it’s a celebration of friendship, diversity, and cultural unity between India and Russia, and a key highlight in Moscow’s summer calendar.
