Thomas Cook India Partners with Mastercard and Google Pay to Launch Contactless Cross-Border Payments on Forex Cards

Thomas Cook (India) Limited, the country’s leading omnichannel forex services provider, has announced a strategic partnership with Mastercard and Google Pay to introduce contactless cross-border payments across its entire suite of forex prepaid cards. This groundbreaking initiative enables Indian travellers to make secure overseas transactions directly through Google Pay, offering seamless payment solutions for accommodation, transport, dining, shopping, and more without the need to carry a physical card. By simply adding Thomas Cook’s forex cards—Borderless Travel, One Currency, Study Buddy, and EnterpriseFX—to Google Pay, customers can experience swift, safe, and convenient tap-and-pay or online transactions at over 270 million Mastercard merchant locations worldwide.

The new feature enhances security through tokenization, ensuring that customer data remains protected while delivering the convenience of contactless transactions. The integration eliminates the stress of card loss, theft, or replacement and removes the need for emergency cash while travelling abroad. Speaking on the launch, Mr. Deepesh Varma, Executive Vice President – Foreign Exchange, Thomas Cook (India) Limited, highlighted the importance of this innovation in meeting the demands of India’s new-age traveller, who seeks real-time, secure, and frictionless payment experiences. He emphasized that the collaboration combines Thomas Cook’s expertise in foreign exchange, Google Pay’s technology, and Mastercard’s global payment network to create a robust borderless ecosystem.

Mr. Ravi Datla, Senior Vice President, Products and Solutions, South Asia at Mastercard, reiterated the company’s commitment to transforming travel experiences with innovative, tokenized, and globally accessible payment solutions. He stated that the integration not only strengthens security but also empowers travellers with greater confidence and convenience across millions of merchant locations.
