Odisha’s Dy CM Showcases State’s Vision for Transformative Tourism at IATO Convention

Welcoming the delegates in Odia at the inaugural session of the 40th IATO Convention, Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Pravati Parida highlighted Odisha’s positioning as not just a land of pilgrimage but as a complete tourism destination poised for global recognition.

Speaking at the convention, she said:
“Tourism is not only about travel, it is about transforming communities, creating jobs, and building cultural bridges. Odisha is committed to making tourism a major pillar of its economy.”

Infrastructure & Investment Push

The Deputy CM underlined the state’s rapid strides in infrastructure—from expanding room capacity in Puri and Bhubaneswar to the upcoming new airport at Puri. With projects like Srimandir Parikrama in Puri, improved air and road connectivity, and luxury beach glamping initiatives, Odisha aims to enhance visitor experiences while boosting investor confidence.

Strategic Partnerships

Smt. Parida also announced recent MoUs signed with:

IIT Madras

National Institute of Water Sports, Goa

Light of Buddha Dharma Foundation

These partnerships, she explained, will strengthen Odisha’s positioning in adventure tourism, spiritual circuits, and heritage conservation.

Showcasing Odisha’s Diversity

From the vibrant Konark Festival and International Surfing Festival to tribal art, eco-tourism projects, and Buddhist circuits, Odisha is working on curated experiences that combine tradition with modern hospitality.

Call for Industry Partnership

Inviting tour operators and stakeholders, she said:
“IATO members have played a critical role in promoting India worldwide. I invite you to partner more deeply with Odisha—help us curate new circuits, tap global markets, and empower local communities so that Odisha becomes a model of inclusive tourism.”

She concluded with confidence that Puri 2025 would mark a new chapter of collaboration, innovation, and promotion for Odisha’s tourism sector, adding: “With Lord Jagannath’s blessings, Odisha is ready to welcome the world with open arms.”
