Air India Express Expands Ranchi Connectivity with New Flights to Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, Indore, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Upcoming Goa Service

Air India Express is set to boost Ranchi’s air connectivity from September 1, 2025, with new services linking the city to Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, Indore, Guwahati, and Thiruvananthapuram. These flights will operate as transit routes—Bhubaneswar via Mumbai, Indore via Delhi, and Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram via Bengaluru—offering passengers greater flexibility and shorter travel times. Ranchi Airport Director R.R. Maurya said the expansion will significantly enhance passenger convenience through better route coordination and reduced waiting times.

In addition, Air India Express is preparing to launch Ranchi–Goa flights via Mumbai later in September, a development expected to attract strong demand from leisure travelers. The new routes align with the airline’s strategy to strengthen its domestic network using a hub-and-spoke model, leveraging major hubs like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru for wider connectivity and efficient fleet utilisation.

With this expansion, business travelers will benefit from fewer flight changes, while leisure travelers gain easier access to coastal and cultural destinations. The move is also expected to drive tourism inflows and economic growth in Ranchi and surrounding regions. Industry experts view the development as part of India’s growing regional connectivity push, with Tier-2 cities like Ranchi emerging as key aviation growth markets.
