National, October 6, 2025: New data from Atlys, a visa processing platform, reveals that millennials account for 53.5% of festive-season visa applications, with solo travel surging to 71.5%.
Short-haul destinations like the UAE, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka dominate applications, while Germany saw a spike due to Oktoberfest, attracting largely solo, male millennial travellers. Atlys Founder Mohak Nahta noted that traditional family-centric travel is giving way to independent, experiential, and culturally immersive trips, with travellers turning festivals and long weekends into opportunities for international exploration.
The insights indicate a new era of Indian festive travel, where global experiences are increasingly integrated into holiday planning, reflecting a shift in travel behaviour and spending patterns.
