Telangana Launches First-Ever Tourism Police Training at NITHM

In a landmark step towards enhancing visitor safety and experience, Telangana has initiated training for its first-ever batch of ‘Tourism Police’ at the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM), Gachibowli.

The inaugural batch, comprising *80 trained personnel, will soon be deployed across the state to assist tourists, ensure law and order, and offer facilitation services at major destinations including *Amrabad, Somasila, Ananthagiri, Ramappa, Yadagirigutta, Pochampally, Buddhavanam, Bhadrachalam, and Hyderabad.

Dr. Valmiki Hari Kishan, Advisor, Tourism Committee of FTCCI, who addressed the new recruits, emphasized that the Tourism Police initiative marks a progressive leap in Telangana’s tourism infrastructure, following the announcement of the State Tourism Policy.
He highlighted that the Tourism Police will not only safeguard travellers but also help protect heritage monuments and cultural assets across the state.

“With Telangana earning its first *UNESCO World Heritage tag, and witnessing rapid growth in sectors such as *medical tourism, destination weddings, and pilgrimage travel, this initiative comes at a crucial time,” Dr. Valmiki noted.

Telangana now becomes the 14th state in India to introduce a dedicated Tourism Police force — a move expected to reinforce confidence among visitors and strengthen the state’s image as a safe, welcoming, and globally competitive tourism destination.

Dr. Valmiki also showcased his unique collection of world banknotes, symbolizing the power of tourism in connecting cultures and economies worldwide.
