The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), in partnership
with FHRAI–IHM and the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Northern India
(HRANI), is set to roll out the inaugural FHRAI–IHM Mini Marathon in Greater
Noida on Sunday, 1 February 2026. With the theme ‘Viksit Hospitality for Viksit
Bharat’, the event aims to spotlight the hospitality sector’s growing influence on
India’s development and position it as an aspirational career choice for young talent.
India’s tourism and hospitality sector has emerged as one of the largest contributors to
GDP growth, foreign exchange earnings, and nationwide employment. Even as the
industry expands rapidly—especially across Tier III and Tier IV cities—a significant
skill shortage continues to challenge its full potential. The Mini Marathon has been
designed to bridge this gap by fostering awareness, strengthening industry–academia
connections, and showcasing the sector’s future-forward opportunities.
The event will open with senior government representatives, hospitality leaders, and
education heads in attendance. Participants will experience a vibrant line-up,
including a culinary trail curated by leading chefs, an interactive hospitality
pavilion, and engagement zones highlighting tourism innovation, food trends,
service excellence, and new career pathways. Celebrity chefs, sports icons,
influencers, live music, Zumba, Bhangra, and fitness sessions will add to the festive
atmosphere.
Sustainability remains a key focus of the event, reflected through eco-friendly race
kits, reusable hydration points, and zero-waste efforts.
The Mini Marathon will feature four race categories suited for all age groups and
fitness levels. The run will begin at 6:00 a.m. from FHRAI–IHM, Knowledge Park
III, Plot No. 45, Greater Noida. A large turnout of students, hospitality professionals,
runners, and families is anticipated, creating a lively gathering of the hospitality
fraternity and the local community.
FHRAI President Surendra Kumar Jaiswal said,
“Hospitality has the power to shape India’s economic future. As we progress
toward the goal of Viksit Bharat, our sector will play a decisive role—not just in
job creation, but in defining how the world sees India. With this Mini Marathon,
we want to inspire young people to view hospitality as a rewarding, impactful
career and to recognise their potential as future leaders.”
Envisioned as an annual flagship event, the FHRAI–IHM Mini Marathon aims to
promote health, community spirit, and teamwork, while reinforcing the critical role
skilled talent will play in building a resilient, future-ready hospitality ecosystem.
