Global hospitality group Accor has announced the signing of Novotel Vrindavan, further accelerating its expansion strategy in North India and marking its entry into one of the country’s most prominent spiritual destinations. The move underlines Accor’s growing emphasis on pilgrimage-driven and event-centric markets that are witnessing consistent year-round demand.
Scheduled to open in 2029, the 150-room Novotel Vrindavan will be a new-build development designed to cater to a wide mix of travellers, including pilgrims, families, destination wedding groups, and corporate guests. Spread across over 6,000 square metres, the project aims to introduce internationally benchmarked midscale hospitality to a city that has seen rising tourist inflows in recent years.
Vrindavan, known globally as a key spiritual hub, has also evolved into a preferred venue for large social gatherings and religious events. Improved connectivity and infrastructure development in the region have further enhanced its attractiveness as a hospitality investment destination.
The upcoming hotel is planned with a strong focus on meetings, conferences, and social events, reflecting the growing demand for organised venues in the city. Facilities are expected to include a spacious ballroom, multiple meeting spaces, all-day dining options, a specialty restaurant, wellness facilities, and recreational amenities, positioning the hotel as a comprehensive hospitality destination.
Commenting on the development, Ranju Alex, Chief Executive Officer – Accor South Asia, highlighted that Vrindavan represents a strategically important location for the group’s expansion plans. She noted that the brand aims to blend modern hospitality standards with local cultural sensibilities, offering guests a balanced experience that aligns with Novotel’s global identity.
The project is being developed in partnership with Girijas Retreat Private Limited. The developers believe that Vrindavan’s rapid transformation from a purely pilgrimage destination to a broader tourism and events hub creates a strong case for professionally managed, branded hotels.
Industry observers note that India’s spiritual tourism segment continues to drive significant travel demand, supported by government initiatives to improve infrastructure and promote heritage destinations. Cities like Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Vrindavan have seen increased hotel development interest from national and international brands in recent years.
With over six decades of hospitality experience globally, Novotel remains one of Accor’s most recognised midscale brands, operating hundreds of hotels across major international markets. The signing of Novotel Vrindavan further strengthens Accor’s footprint in India and reflects the company’s confidence in the long-term growth potential of culturally significant destinations.
