Centre-Backed Projects Drive Tourism Infrastructure Push Across Haryana

Even as no fresh tourism project proposal from Haryana is currently under consideration by the Ministry of Tourism, several centrally supported projects across the state are already contributing to infrastructure development and destination enhancement.

Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, the ‘Development of Tourism Infrastructure at places related to the Mahabharata in Kurukshetra’ under the Krishna Circuit was sanctioned in 2016-17 with an outlay of ₹77.39 crore. Of this, ₹76.74 crore has been utilized, marking near-complete financial implementation of the project.

In Panchkula, multiple projects are progressing under different central schemes. Under Swadesh Darshan 2.0, the ‘Development of Adventure Tourism Hub at Tikkar Taal and Adventure Park’ was sanctioned in 2024-25 with a budget of ₹26.68 crore, with ₹2.67 crore authorized so far. Additionally, the ‘Rejuvenation of Yadavindra Garden’ in Panchkula received a sanction of ₹65.82 crore, with ₹6.58 crore authorized for utilization.

Under the PRASHAD scheme, the ‘Development of Nada Saheb Gurudwara and Mata Mansa Devi Temple’ in Panchkula district was sanctioned in 2019-20 with an outlay of ₹48.53 crore, of which ₹34.68 crore has been utilized.

The Ministry of Tourism clarified that while it extends financial assistance through schemes such as Swadesh Darshan, Swadesh Darshan 2.0, PRASHAD, and SASCI, the primary responsibility for land allocation, execution, and operation of projects rests with the State Government. The Ministry periodically reviews implementation progress and provides necessary guidance.

With significant funds already deployed across spiritual, heritage, and adventure tourism segments, Haryana’s tourism infrastructure is witnessing steady development, though no new project proposals from the state are currently awaiting approval at the central level.
