Coastal destinations across Asia are witnessing a strong surge in demand for early summer 2026, with short-haul beach locations emerging as preferred choices for travellers seeking quick, experience-rich getaways. Search trends for May check-ins indicate that destinations offering a blend of seaside relaxation, local cuisine, and cultural experiences are gaining the most traction.
Vietnam is leading this growth, with Da Nang recording a sharp 72% year-on-year rise in interest, driven by its combination of My Khe Beach, Marble Mountains, and proximity to the heritage town of Hoi An. Nha Trang is also seeing increased demand, up 36% year-on-year, supported by its expansive bay, island-hopping experiences, and cultural landmarks such as the Po Nagar Cham Towers.
Among established leisure markets, Bali continues to attract steady interest, with travellers drawn to its mix of surf beaches, temple experiences, and wellness retreats, while Goa remains a key domestic favourite, offering a contrast between the laid-back appeal of South Goa and the vibrant energy of its northern coastline. Pattaya is also witnessing consistent demand, benefiting from its proximity to Bangkok and access to quieter nearby islands such as Koh Larn.
The trend reflects a broader shift in traveller preferences towards destinations that offer compact, flexible experiences, where beach time can be easily combined with food, markets, and sightseeing. Shorter, unhurried trips with a balance of leisure and cultural immersion are increasingly shaping booking patterns, particularly for early summer travel.
