Being the only carrier in Malaysia with direct service between Visakhapatnam and bustling Kuala Lumpur, AirAsia has announced the long-awaited return of flights from the Indian city to the Malaysian capital. AirAsia’s network grows from India to Malaysia.

Starting on April 26, 2024, AirAsia will offer three weekly flights from Visakhapatnam, located in the Bay of Bengal, to Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Known for being the jewel of Southeast Asia, Kuala Lumpur is home to some of the oldest rainforests in the world, a melting pot of vibrant cultures, and “Merdeka Tower 118,” the second-tallest tower in the world. Kuala Lumpur is a food lover’s dream come true, offering a gastronomic adventure encompassing Malay, Chinese, and Indian delicacies. Travelers from all over the world also frequently swarm to the city to see the famous “Batu Caves,” an incredible limestone hill with a number of caves and cave temples decorated with elaborate Hindu shrines and sculptures.

Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, expressed his enthusiasm by saying: “AirAsia is thrilled to continue this celebratory momentum of growing connectivity in one of our biggest international markets – India – as we continue to make travel more affordable and accessible to all. A direct route from Visakhapatnam to Kuala Lumpur is a core  part of our expansion plans and we’re delighted that it is  taking off at an opportune time for AirAsia, marking our fourth and counting route from India this year.

“We look forward to connecting travellers to the beautiful Kuala Lumpur that is immersed in rich culture as well as enchanting natural wonders, and links travellers from India affordably to other parts of Malaysia, South East Asia and further afield on our vast network. Similarly, we look forward to flying travellers from Malaysia’s capital who are keen to visit the quaint and stunning Visakhapatnam. This expansion reflects our dedication to providing seamless and inexpensive travel options, linking different people to different cultures. ”

Recently, the airline revealed three more new routes that will launch this year from India to Kuala Lumpur: Thiruvananthapuram in February, which will become AirAsia’s second route from the state of Kerala after Kochi; Jaipur in April; and Ahmedabad in May. Furthermore, AirAsia and its sister airline, AirAsia X, operate flights from two northern cities, New Delhi and Amritsar, and six southern Indian cities, including Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. Not only that, but the airline provides accessible and reasonably priced Fly-Thru options, allowing passengers from India to Malaysia to use Kuala Lumpur as a connecting hub to any of AirAsia’s more than 130 destinations across 22 countries.
