Goa’s tourism season officially kicked off on Wednesday with the arrival of two charter flights from Russia at Manohar International Airport in Mopa. The first Aeroflot flight, arriving from Moscow, brought 210 passengers, followed by a second flight from Yekaterinburg carrying 139 passengers, landing at 9 a.m. The tourists were greeted with vibrant folk dances showcasing Indian culture, marking the beginning of the season with a traditional and festive atmosphere.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, who welcomed the visitors, highlighted the State government’s commitment to providing all necessary facilities to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for tourists. He emphasized the importance of tourist safety and urged local municipal councils and panchayats to address any inconveniences faced by visitors. Khaunte reassured that the Tourism Department would actively work to resolve any issues.
Additionally, the minister announced plans to enhance facilities along the coastal belt, stretching from Pernem to Canacona. The Tourism Department is preparing to install changing rooms, toilets, parking areas, and drinking water stations for the convenience of tourists. “A master plan has been prepared, and work in this direction has already begun,” Khaunte stated.
