FHRAI conference in Goa highlights key strategies to boost India’s tourism sector

The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) recently held a two-day conference in Goa, focusing on strategies to bolster tourism and the critical role the hospitality sector plays in India’s economic growth. The event, attended by top hoteliers, restaurateurs, and industry experts, saw discussions on innovative approaches to boost business and enhance India’s tourism appeal.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, who addressed the conference on October 19, highlighted five key points to accelerate growth in the hospitality and tourism sectors. Though he was unable to attend in person, his remarks were read on the second day of the event, underscoring the government’s commitment to transforming India’s tourism infrastructure.

Gadkari emphasized the significance of infrastructure projects, such as building new expressways and upgrading tourist facilities, which he said are crucial for making travel more accessible and creating job opportunities across the country. “Infrastructure development is key to enhancing tourism and boosting local economies,” he noted.

The minister also outlined the government’s ongoing efforts to develop 18 new tourist destinations, with several infrastructure projects already nearing completion. He pointed out that a focus on both religious and modern tourism is drawing a diverse range of travelers, helping to create new growth avenues for India’s tourism industry. “Today, visitors are exploring not only pilgrimage sites but also modern cities and exclusive tourist locations,” Gadkari said.
