Telangana Tourism launches new cruise ship service from Nagarjunasagar to Srisailam

The Telangana Tourism Department has launched a scenic cruise ship service from Nagarjunasagar to Srisailam, with the inaugural journey commencing on Saturday, November 2, 2024. This new service covers a 120-kilometer route along the Krishna River, offering passengers a scenic seven-hour journey through locations such as Nagarjuna Konda, Nandi Konda, Eleshwaram, and Saleshwaram, with views of the dense Nallamala Forest.

Ticket prices for the one-way trip are set at ₹2,000 for adults and ₹1,600 for children, covering only the cruise journey. Passengers are responsible for arranging their own onward transportation, accommodations, and other expenses after reaching Srisailam, according to the Tourism Department.

Anji Reddy, General Manager of Marketing for Telangana Tourism, announced that the cruise will depart from Nagarjunasagar every Saturday morning, with a return trip available the following day. A two-way journey is also offered, priced at ₹3,000 for adults and ₹2,400 for children. Reddy added that the ship is designed with an upper open deck and a lower air-conditioned deck for passenger comfort.

Despite being planned for over five years, the launch of the cruise was delayed due to challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and fluctuating water levels at Nagarjunasagar Dam. Future trips are also subject to water levels being maintained at 570 feet or above, and the number of passengers booking the journey.

Another cruise route from Somasila in Nagarkurnool to Srisailam has also been launched, with similar distance, travel time, and ticket pricing. Both routes can be booked through the Telangana Tourism website, providing passengers with an opportunity to explore the state’s scenic landscapes and historic sites by river.
