Coldplay sparks hotel frenzy in India ahead of 2025 concert return

British pop-rock sensation Coldplay is returning to India in January 2025, and fans and hoteliers are already feeling the excitement. Since the concert announcement, digital travel platform Agoda has reported a staggering 33-fold surge in accommodation searches compared to the previous week, showcasing the massive buzz around the highly-anticipated event.

Coldplay, known for hits like “Paradise” and “Viva La Vida,” last performed in India in 2016, making this their first return in nearly a decade. Fans in India are particularly eager, with Agoda noting an impressive 45-fold spike in domestic accommodation searches on the day the concert was announced, compared to the same day the previous week.

Agoda data also highlights substantial international interest, with fans from countries such as France, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Australia actively searching for places to stay in Mumbai during the concert dates. The event is expected to draw a global crowd, adding to Mumbai’s bustling tourism scene and providing a significant boost to the local hospitality industry.

“Earlier this year, we saw Indians flock to Thailand to watch Coldplay perform live in Bangkok,” said Krishna Rathi, Senior Country Director for India Subcontinent and MEA at Agoda. “The band’s popularity among Indians suggests that Mumbai is about to be the stage for something truly memorable, and we are thrilled to help travelers find the perfect stay for the event.”

With demand for accommodation already skyrocketing, fans planning to attend the concert are encouraged to book early for the best rates and availability.
