Kerala Pavilion Thrills Global Audience at London’s World Travel Market Expanding Kerala’s Tourism Footprint in the UK

The Kerala Tourism Pavilion at London’s prestigious World Travel Market (WTM) has quickly become a star attraction, captivating visitors with its vibrant showcase since opening on November 5. This premier international trade fair is a key event for tourism professionals worldwide, and with the UK as one of Kerala’s top tourist markets, the state’s participation aims to boost foreign arrivals and enhance tourism partnerships.

Indian High Commissioner Vikram K. Doraiswamy inaugurated the impressive Kerala Pavilion, which spans 110 square meters and brings the theme “A Wonderful World” to life, celebrating the state’s unparalleled cultural diversity. Live performances of Kathakali and Mohiniyattam add an immersive cultural experience, drawing crowds to the pavilion and spotlighting Kerala’s heritage.

Tourism Director Sikha Surendran is leading Kerala’s delegation of eleven esteemed tourism partners, representing a diverse range of attractions, including Ayurvedic resorts, luxury hotels, tour operators, and houseboat services. Together, they offer an authentic view of Kerala’s unique tourism landscape, highlighting wellness, adventure, and culture.

Tourism and Public Works Minister Shri PA Mohamed Riyas expressed his confidence in Kerala’s appeal as a year-round travel destination, thanks to new tourism circuits and innovative attractions. “WTM provides a vital platform for showcasing Kerala’s all-season destinations, and we expect a strong increase in foreign arrivals, especially from the UK, following the event,” he noted.

The Kerala Pavilion welcomed prominent guests, including Goa’s Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, and India’s Tourism Director General Mugdha Sinha, reflecting Kerala’s elevated role on the global tourism stage.

Tourism Secretary Shri K Biju emphasized the significance of WTM in strengthening Kerala’s position as a top international destination. “The fair is invaluable for fostering commercial partnerships with industry leaders, which will further drive growth in UK arrivals,” he said. Director Sikha Surendran added, “Our interactions here will have long-lasting benefits for Kerala’s tourism industry.”

Kerala’s WTM team includes the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, Abad Hotels, Alhind Tours, Cosima Holidays, Krishnendu Ayurveda, Oscar Cruises, Santa Monica Tours, and the UDS Group of Hotels. Together, they represent Kerala’s diverse tourism offerings, from wellness experiences to eco-friendly travel.
