The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) launched the “Festival of Australia” in Mumbai, a four-city showcase designed to highlight Australia’s excellence in education, trade, and premium food and beverage (F&B) products. The event will continue in Hyderabad (16 November), Bengaluru (18 November), and Kochi (20 November).
The Mumbai event brought together Australian universities, institutions, and trade partners, providing Indian students and parents with direct access to representatives from top Australian universities. Key activities included a masterclass on disaster prevention by Prof. David Sanderson from the University of New South Wales and a panel discussion on student expectations from foreign universities.
The festival also featured an Australian Food Pavilion, showcasing premium products such as honey, cheese, seafood, lamb, and sauces. Live cooking demonstrations offered attendees a taste of dishes made with Australian ingredients. Austrade partnered with Jio Mart and Food Square to promote Australian products through dedicated pavilions and retail collaborations.
John Southwell, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner – South Asia, remarked, “This festival highlights Australia’s strengths in education and cuisine, fostering awareness and opportunities for Indian students and food enthusiasts to explore Australia as a destination for quality learning and dining.”
The Festival of Australia underscores growing Australia-India ties in education, trade, and culture, promising stronger economic and cultural connections in the future.
