ABTA’s Travel Trends for 2025 report, based on its annual Holiday Habits survey, highlights key travel trends for the coming year, reflecting the evolving preferences of holidaymakers despite economic challenges.
With 68% of consumers planning international travel in the next 12 months and 84% intending to spend the same or more on holidays, travel remains a priority. The report identifies five major trends shaping 2025:
- Luxury and Couples’ Holidays: Demand for five-star accommodations and couples-only getaways is rising, reflecting a focus on premium experiences.
- Long-Haul Growth: Travelers are increasingly exploring new long-haul destinations, signaling a shift towards unique, far-flung adventures.
- Winter Getaway Evolution: Unique activities and experiences are becoming central to winter travel plans.
- Travel Inspiration Sources: Traditional tools like brochures remain relevant, while AI-driven inspiration is gaining traction.
Mark Tanzer, ABTA’s Chief Executive, noted the enduring desire for exceptional travel experiences. “The data shows that people continue to prioritize spending on travel, with long-haul holidays and five-star stays set to dominate next year.”
