The Indian aviation industry leaders gathered in New Delhi recently for the CAPA India Aviation Summit. This was the first time after 2019 that CAPA was organizing this event.
Campbell Wilson, the CEO of Air India shared the airline's plans to revive its fortunes. “If we cast our eyes forward, maybe 12 to 15 months, we will have the first of our 470 new aircraft already in service,” added Wilson.
According to Ajay Singh, CMD of low-cost carrier (LCC) Spice Jet the airline is considering converting more of its dues into equity to reduce its debt. Vinay Dubey, CEO of Akasa Air, revealed that the airline would launch its first international destination by the end of the year. He also shared that the company had plans to place another major order of narrow-body aircraft by the end of 2023. The event overall underlined the optimism vested in the future of the Indian aviation sector with airlines in the country looking to expand in new markets and placing order for new aircraft.
