As part of ongoing efforts to make Delhi a preferred tourism destination, Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation Ltd. (DTTDC) has chalked out several plans, including heritage walks at the tourism hotspots including Old Delhi, CP and Hauz Khas areas.
The first Heritage Walk was launched by Atishi, Tourism Minister, GNCTD on 25th March 2023 at Hauz Khas monument. Present on the occasion were MLA Somnath Bharti, Niharika Rai, Secretary (Tourism) and MD and CEO, DTTDC along with other officers from Delhi Tourism.
Launching the Heritage Walk, Tourism Minister congratulated Delhi Tourism for the initiative and stated that such walks would greatly contribute to the growth of tourism in the city.
Delhi is a city where the old and modern blend seamlessly together. Therefore, the circuits for Heritage Walks have been planned both for New Delhi and Old Delhi areas.
The Heritage walks to be conducted by DTTDC include the following:
1. Walk of Hauz Khas: Hauz Khas monuments, Lake, Deer Park
2. Dekho Apna C.P: Agrasen ki Baoli, Connaught Place Buildings, Ganesh Mandir, Hanuman Mandir, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Sacred Heart Cathedral.
3. Dilli ka Dil Dekho: National War Memorial, Kartavyapath, North-South block, Rashtrapati Bhawan.
4. Heritage walk of Shahjahanabad: Starts from Sunehri Masjid, Red Fort (Outside) Digambar Jain Lal mandir, Gauri Shankar mandir, Gurudwara SisGanj, Baptist church, Parathe wali gali/Jang Bahadur ki kachori/Natraj dhai bhalla.
5. Food walk (Old Delhi): Starts from jama masjid, Shyam Sweets, Town hall, Fatehpuri masjid/Khari baoli/haveli, Chaina ram, Gianni ka faluda.
6. Walk of Qutub Minar and Mehrauli Archeological Park: Starts from Rose Garden, Jamali Kamali Mosque, Dilkusha/Quli Khan’s tomb, Rajon ki baoli, Zafar Mahar, Adham Khan Tomb.
