While celebrating Liberation Day of Hyderabad-Karnataka region and the 10th anniversary of Article 371(J) during the Kalyana Karnataka Utsav, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah hinted at leveraging the tourism potential of the region to improve overall development.
After hoisting the tricolour, Siddaramaiah spoke of “opportunities” which the region presents, especially to the tourism sector. “Kalyana Karnataka has a lot of historical and religious tourist spots that can open the doors of development for the region. Using this opportunity we can build our local economy,” he said.
Siddaramaiah said the Malkhed fort and the Sri Dattatreya sacred place of Gangapura, the Buddhist religious place of Sannati and the Gurudwara in Kalaburagi will be developed. “We will also develop the museum in Kalaburagi,” he added.
According to a story that appeared in The Times of India, Siddaramaiah said the government intends to spend Rs 2 crore to protect black bucks in Bidar district. The district has a blackbuck sanctuary. He also said a 3D projection, multimedia and sound and light show has already been proposed at Vijaya Vittala temple at the UNESCO-protected monuments in Hampi and the government will allocate Rs 3.5 crore to set up a Janapada Loka in Koppal.
Earlier, Siddaramaiah said rural libraries in the KK region were being upgraded under Arivu Kendras scheme with as many as 939 of them being developed in all seven districts of the region. He said Kalaburagi is also be- ing developed into a prime healthcare hub of the region with the establishment of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology and a trauma care centre being established.
