Global hotel giant Accor and Indian travel and aviation behemoth InterGlobe Enterprises have announced a strategic agreement to create India’s fastest-growing hospitality sector, marking a historic step that will change the country’s hospitality environment. In order to capitalize on the nation’s quickly expanding travel and tourism industry, the recently unified and independent platform plans to build a strong network of 300 hotels under Accor’s portfolio of brands by 2030.
The two enterprises have a long history together, and this new alliance will consolidate their hotel management, development, and owned assets operations in India under one organization. In addition to leading operations and brand management, Accor, which now runs 71 hotels in India and has 40 more planned, will contribute its whole portfolio of international hospitality brands to the project, ranging from budget-friendly to luxury and lifestyle options like Ennismore.
However, InterGlobe, which is best known as the parent company of IndiGo, the biggest airline in India, has unparalleled industry knowledge, a solid track record of success as an entrepreneur, and extensive market penetration in the travel, aviation, logistics, and technology sectors. The partners are working together to fully realize the potential of India’s hotel industry, which is still mostly fragmented and ready for organized, branded businesses to take over.
A significant investment in Treebo, one of India’s top tech-driven low-cost hotel systems, has also been revealed by Accor and InterGlobe as part of the plan. Treebo will now hold the master license for the development of Accor’s economy brands, Ibis and Mercure, in India, managing more than 800 properties in 120 locations. Ten additional Mercure hotels will be signed right away as part of this. With more than 30,000 rooms, the collaboration will rank as the third-largest hospitality provider in India thanks to the combined Treebo-Accor portfolio.
This partnership is a forward-thinking endeavor that addresses India’s growing demand for both inbound and outward travel; it is not just about numbers. This collaboration will guarantee that Accor and InterGlobe are at the forefront of satisfying traveler needs across all price ranges, as India is expected to emerge as the third-largest domestic travel market and the fifth-largest outbound market globally by 2027.
“This historic partnership marks a transformative moment for Accor and its brands in India,” stated Sébastien Bazin, Chairman & CEO of Accor, in response to the news. We are opening up previously unheard-of growth potential by partnering with our reliable partner InterGlobe and fusing the finest aspects of international hospitality with Indian technology and entrepreneurship.
Rahul Bhatia, Group Managing Director, InterGlobe Enterprises, added, “This strategic collaboration further strengthens our two-decade relationship with Accor. Together, we aim to redefine the hospitality experience in India by offering world-class service, exceptional value, and setting new benchmarks in the industry.”
This game-changing collaboration between Accor and InterGlobe signals a bold step forward in India’s hotel industry, poised to deliver scale, efficiency, and innovation while offering guests superior experiences across all travel segments.
