Digital travel platform Agoda has observed a 53% surge in international accommodation searches by Indian travelers for New Year’s Eve, reflecting a growing preference for overseas celebrations.
Phuket has emerged as the top international destination for Indian travelers, replacing Bangkok. Other popular choices include Dubai, Bangkok, Pattaya, and Bali, highlighting a preference for beach and city destinations across Asia and the Middle East.
Krishna Rathi, Senior Country Director for India Subcontinent and MEA at Agoda, remarked, “The increase in outbound travel searches underscores Indians’ enthusiasm for international experiences during the holiday season. Agoda provides great deals on accommodations and flights to make these trips affordable.”
Despite the rise in international travel, domestic travel also saw a 14% increase, with Goa maintaining its position as the most popular destination for New Year’s Eve in India.
Inbound travel to India is also growing, with a 10% rise in accommodation searches from countries like the United States, Singapore, and the UAE, with Goa leading the list of preferred destinations.
The data highlights the evolving travel patterns of Indian and international tourists, with a strong interest in diverse and exciting New Year’s Eve celebrations.
