American Airlines Flight AA292, traveling from New York to Delhi, was forced to make an emergency U-turn near Turkmenistan and divert to Rome’s Fiumicino Airport following a bomb threat onboard. Real-time flight tracking data showed the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner altering its course over the Caspian Sea before heading towards Italy. Upon entering Italian airspace, the aircraft was intercepted and escorted by the Italian Air Force’s Eurofighters. The plane briefly hovered over the Italian east coast before landing in Rome, where security officials are conducting thorough checks.
