Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday expanded the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) to five additional airports Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirappalli, Kozhikode, and Amritsar. The initiative, which simplifies and accelerates immigration for pre-verified Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holders, was first introduced at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport in July 2024 and later extended to seven airports including Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Cochin, and Ahmedabad.
Highlighting the benefits, Shah said the programme ensures “immigration that is simpler, faster, and hassle-free,” offering maximum convenience to Indian citizens and OCI card holders. So far, over three lakh people have registered and 2.65 lakh travellers have already availed the facility, gaining faster immigration clearance through e-gates.
The programme will soon be expanded to 21 major airports across India and will be implemented in two phases first for Indian citizens and OCI card holders, and later for foreign nationals. With a validity of up to five years or until passport expiry, the FTI-TTP is set to transform the international travel experience by offering faster, smoother, and secure immigration clearance at Indian airports.
