AP Tourism Policy 2024-29 Grants Industry Status to Tourism, Boosting Hospitality Sector

The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2024-29 has granted industry status to the tourism sector, a move welcomed by the hospitality industry. R V Swamy, President of the AP Hotels Association, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for the government’s commitment to tourism development.

Swamy highlighted that the policy introduces green leaf ratings for hotels maintaining high standards, which will enhance hospitality services and attract more tourists. He also noted that Rushikonda Beach has retained its prestigious Blue Flag certification, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh’s focus on environmental sustainability.

Key projects like Akhanda Godavari and Gandikota tourism initiatives are expected to elevate the state’s status as a premier tourist destination. Additionally, the policy includes crucial benefits such as GST concessions, reduced energy and registration charges for hotels, and incentives for newly established hotels, ensuring growth in the hospitality sector.

The state government has allocated ₹469 crore for the Youth, Tourism, and Culture Department, with nearly half dedicated to tourism development. Swamy emphasized that these initiatives would help improve hotel operations and increase tourist footfall across Andhra Pradesh.
