Marking a significant milestone in global hospitality, Atmosphere Core is making its European debut with the launch of Borgo Monchiero Heritage by Atmosphere in Piedmont, Italy. This meticulously restored 18th-century monastery, originally built in 1773, is the second historical property under the company’s ‘Heritage by Atmosphere’ portfolio. Showcasing sacred frescoes and Romanesque architecture, the retreat encapsulates the charm of Italy’s northern art, culture, and cuisine.
Commenting on the brand’s European expansion, Salil Panigrahi, Group Managing Director of Atmosphere Core, said, “As we continue to grow and cultivate global partnerships, we have strengthened ties with several European businesses. In Italy, our collaboration with Bottega S.p.A. on a unique wine program brought Italy to Atmosphere Core, and now we are thrilled to bring Atmosphere Core to Italy with our first European destination launching in 2026.”
Nestled in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage site known for producing Italy’s finest wines, including Barolo and Barbera, Borgo Monchiero is a picturesque three-story hillside hermitage. It features 19 elegantly restored suites and rooms, a historic chapel ideal for wedding ceremonies, and a signature dining restaurant serving the region’s finest cuisine. Guests can host private gatherings in the elevated chapter hall, unwind in a sophisticated lounge bar, or soak in panoramic vineyard views from the garden terrace. The retreat’s wellness enclave includes a sauna, infrared therapy, and a restored stone reservoir transformed into a private jacuzzi. Outdoors, the tranquil landscaped garden with a swimming pool offers the perfect setting for alfresco celebrations under the Italian sun.
Borgo Monchiero’s owners, Franco Giampetruzzi and Gian Maria Debenedetti, shared their excitement for the partnership, with Giampetruzzi stating, “When seeking a hotelier, Atmosphere Core’s vision for global expansion with ‘Heritage by Atmosphere’ seamlessly aligned with our project. We wanted an established operator with big ideas while preserving authenticity—Atmosphere Core was the perfect choice.” Debenedetti added, “Our vision is to fuse 18th-century history, art, and experiential luxury. Atmosphere Core’s sympathetic approach through its ‘Heritage’ brand embodies this perfectly.”
