Australia Marketplace India 2025 in Jaipur Strengthens India-Australia Tourism Ties Amid Rising Visitor Numbers and Industry Participation

Tourism Australia’s flagship B2B event, Australia Marketplace India (AMI) 2025, is currently being held in Jaipur from August 3rd to 6th, highlighting the growing momentum in India-Australia travel relations. In its 19th edition, the event brings together over 100 Indian travel agents and 82 Australian tourism operators, marking a significant boost in industry participation from both sides. The event aims to showcase Australia’s diverse tourism offerings to a fast-evolving Indian market that increasingly seeks depth, discovery, and premium travel experiences.

The growing presence of high-yield Indian travelers in Australia has been a key driver of the event’s expansion. This year’s increased engagement from Indian trade partners reflects a strong intent to deepen destination knowledge and cater to the growing appetite for immersive travel. On the other hand, Australian sellers, including lodging and tour operators, attractions, experiences, and state tourism bodies, showcased offerings tailored for India’s outbound travel segment, reinforcing Australia’s position as a top aspirational destination.

Jennifer Doig, Regional General Manager for South & Southeast Asia, Tourism Australia, commented on the significance of the initiative: “India continues to be one of our fastest-growing inbound markets. Australia Marketplace India plays a crucial role in connecting Australian tourism experts with India’s leading travel professionals, helping strengthen our shared goals of increasing visitation and tourism spending from this promising market.”

Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager  India & Gulf, Tourism Australia, added: “Today’s Indian traveler is looking for more than sightseeing they seek authentic cultural experiences, natural beauty, and unique encounters, all of which Australia offers. India has now risen to become Australia’s fifth-largest source market, a growth driven by consistent marketing, strategic partnerships, and platforms like AMI.”

Australia welcomed 453,000 visitors from India for the year ended May 2025, reflecting a 10% increase over the previous year, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Furthermore, Indian visitor spending hit AUD 2.7 billion for the year ended March 2025, showing a 14% increase compared to 2024 solidifying India’s position as one of the most valuable inbound markets.

Tourism Australia’s strategic campaigns, such as “Howzat for a Holiday?” featuring cricketer Pat Cummins and a social content series with David Warner, have significantly boosted destination appeal, especially around the Border-Gavaskar series. These efforts are further amplified by increased direct flight connectivity, fully digital visa processes, and a growing Indian diaspora in Australia, now nearing one million. Over 100,000 Indian students and strong family ties contribute to repeat travel, strengthening the people-to-people bond between the two nations.

In addition to events like AMI, Tourism Australia supports Indian agents through global programs such as the Australian Tourism Exchange and G’day Australia, as well as training initiatives like the Aussie Specialist Program (ASP). With more than 3,000 qualified Aussie Specialists in India and 36 awarded as Premium Aussie Specialists, the program empowers frontline sellers to promote high-end, immersive Australian travel experiences effectively.

Australia Marketplace India 2025 continues to be a pivotal platform in shaping the future of India-Australia tourism relations, ensuring that the travel trade on both sides remains well-connected, informed, and inspired to meet the evolving demands of modern travelers.
