Austrian Airlines and waterdrop Launch SAFt Microdrink to Support Sustainable Aviation Fuels on Board

Austrian Airlines, in collaboration with Viennese beverage innovator waterdrop, has introduced SAFt, a new microdrink aimed at raising awareness for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF). Launching on May 1, 2025, SAFt will be available on Austrian’s short and medium-haul flights through the Melangerie range. Each SAFt pack includes three fruity microdrinks—Lemon Iced Tea, Passion Fruit, and Berry Electrolyte—that can be dissolved in still or sparkling water, offering passengers a sugar-free hydration option. Beyond refreshment, each SAFt purchase invests in one litre of Sustainable Aviation Fuel, helping reduce CO2 emissions by up to 80% compared to fossil fuels. Priced at €3.90 individually or €5.90 when bundled with Vöslauer mineral water, SAFt emphasizes aviation’s commitment to a greener future by promoting responsible resource use and supporting the energy transition. Produced from biogenic residues like used cooking oils, SAF offers a significantly lower carbon footprint and is blended with conventional fuel before being delivered to airports. With SAFt available until October 2025, Austrian Airlines and waterdrop® aim to drive passenger engagement in sustainable travel initiatives.
