Austrian Airlines has unveiled its latest Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registered OE-LPL, named “Spanish Riding School” in a special partnership with one of Austria’s most iconic institutions. The Spanish Riding School, founded in 1565 and known for its world-renowned Lipizzaner stallions, embodies Austria’s rich cultural heritage, and now, its name will fly worldwide on Austrian Airlines’ latest aircraft.

Francesco Sciortino, Chief Operating Officer of Austrian Airlines, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating that both institutions, steeped in tradition, will now showcase Austria’s history and culture globally. In addition to the aircraft naming, Austrian Airlines has also sponsored Favory Wera, a 12-year-old Lipizzaner stallion from the Spanish Riding School, further deepening the connection between the two organizations.

This collaboration is part of Austrian Airlines’ “Highlights of Vienna” initiative, which celebrates local landmarks through aircraft names. The Dreamliner joins another named Schönbrunn Palace, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to connecting Austria’s heritage with global travel. The partnership highlights the synergy between Austrian Airlines and the Spanish Riding School, blending tradition, precision, and quality in a global showcase of Austria’s legacy.

With this special collaboration, Austrian Airlines strengthens its international appeal, offering travelers a unique experience of Austrian culture both in the air and on the ground.
