Ayodhya Records 45 Crore Visitors; PM Highlights Surge in Spiritual Tourism and New Infrastructure

Ayodhya has emerged as one of India’s fastest-growing spiritual tourism hubs, with
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that the city has recorded nearly 45 crore
visitors since the Ram Temple Pran Pratishtha ceremony earlier this year.
Addressing the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Dhwajarohan Utsav, the Prime
Minister said the unprecedented footfall has led to a significant rise in local economic
activity, benefiting sectors such as hospitality, transport, retail, and small businesses
connected to pilgrimage tourism.
Modi said Ayodhya’s transformation is supported by major connectivity upgrades,
including a new international airport, an expanded railway station, and improved
services through Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat Express trains. He described
Ayodhya as a developing model of “mythology and modernity,” backed by urban
renewal projects and enhanced civic infrastructure.
According to the Prime Minister, the influx of devotees has contributed to higher
incomes for residents of Ayodhya and surrounding districts. Tourism stakeholders say
the steady rise in footfall is creating demand for new hotels, homestays, transportation
solutions, curated spiritual tours, and riverfront activities.
With record arrivals and expanding facilities, Ayodhya is expected to become a major
domestic and international pilgrimage circuit alongside destinations such as Varanasi,
Prayagraj, and Chitrakoot.
