China has implemented a new mandatory Arrival Card Online system, requiring all international passengers to complete the digital declaration before arriving at Chinese entry ports. This fundamental update streamlines immigration processes and significantly enhances digital efficiency at border crossings, marking a major change to China’s entry procedures now in effect.
Travelers are now provided with multiple convenient online avenues for completing the mandatory card digitally. These include the NIA Official Website, the Government Service Platform, the “NIA 12367” App, and specialized WeChat / Alipay Mini Programs. The form can also be completed by scanning a QR code via mobile. For those unable to complete the form digitally prior to arrival, paper Arrival Card forms, airport QR codes, and smart terminals remain available at immigration inspection sites for completion.
Crucially, several categories of travelers are exempt from this new requirement. These exemptions cover Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card Holders, those holding the Mainland Travel Permit for HK & Macao, individuals entering under Group Visas or Visa-Free Group Entry, and those transiting within 24 hours without exiting the port area. Also exempted are passengers entering and exiting on the same cruise ship, fast lane passengers, and foreign employees of transport vehicles. This new digital focus is aimed at reducing processing times for the vast majority of international visitors and ensuring greater efficiency across China’s growing travel network. The official online filling link has been provided to all carriers to ensure passenger compliance.
