In a major boost to India’s cruise tourism sector, Cordelia Cruises has announced the acquisition of two Sun-class ships—Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun—from global cruise leader Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), a subsidiary of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. This strategic move significantly enhances Cordelia’s capacity and underscores its commitment to offering world-class cruise holidays to Indian travellers.
With this acquisition, Cordelia Cruises more than doubles its fleet size and passenger capacity, ushering in a new era of immersive and aspirational cruising in India. The ships, each approximately 850 feet long and weighing around 77,000 gross tons, can accommodate about 2,000 guests and 900 crew members. Their spacious design, extensive amenities, and guest-friendly stateroom options—from solo cabins to balcony suites—will cater to a wide range of travel needs.

Both Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun will introduce an elevated onboard experience with speciality restaurants, entertainment theatres, casinos, wellness centres, arcades, pools, fitness zones, and dedicated kids’ areas. Known for their elegant interiors and versatile layouts, the ships will be ideal for both short getaways and extended destination cruises.
Since its inception in 2021, Cordelia Cruises has served over 600,000 guests across 450+ sailings with its flagship, Cordelia Empress, delivering a uniquely Indian cruising experience enriched with Indian cuisine, entertainment, and hospitality. The addition of the two new ships will allow Cordelia to expand its reach across Indian ports, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, while offering longer itineraries and more frequent departures.
Deployment details and sailing schedules for Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun will be announced soon, as Cordelia Cruises gears up to redefine luxury cruising for the Indian market.
