In a bid to boost tourism and stimulate economic growth, the Delhi government has approved round-the-clock operations for restaurants in Aerocity, a premier hospitality hub near Indira Gandhi International Airport. This move, announced on Wednesday, will allow restaurants in the area to operate 24 hours a day, joining the zone’s already fully operational high-end hotels.
The approval, granted by Chief Minister Atishi, is aimed at providing tourists and locals with greater access to dining options while simultaneously driving government revenue through increased licensing fees. “This 24×7 model is expected to significantly enhance the visitor experience and contribute to the state’s revenue,” said an official statement from the government.
The decision follows the success of a similar policy in Gurugram, Haryana, where restaurants have reported revenue gains by extending their operational hours in exchange for additional fees. By adopting this approach, the Delhi government hopes to replicate the positive outcomes seen in neighboring areas, while making Aerocity an even more attractive destination for both domestic and international travelers.
Aerocity, located strategically near the IGI Airport, is already home to several 4-star and 5-star hotels, which operate around the clock. The extension of 24-hour operations to its restaurants is expected to elevate the hospitality experience for visitors and increase the overall competitiveness of the region as a key tourism hub.
In addition to Aerocity, the Delhi government has been expanding its policy on 24-hour operations for commercial establishments. On Tuesday, the government approved 24-hour operations for 111 more shops and businesses, pushing the total number of establishments permitted to operate 24/7 to over 700.
